Over the last 6 months, we have developed a strategic plan to provide the best support and experience possible for our members. We are excited to announce the following Director level positions.
Stephanie Sumcizk - Director of Curriculum and Player Development
Stephanie’s primary objective is to implement our program-wide coaching curriculum, distilled from our collective knowledge and professional development. She will directly oversee the development of our K-8th grade student-athletes, preparing them for the high school tournament circuit and varsity level play. Additionally, Stephanie will focus on recruiting coaching talent specifically for the K-8th grade groupings.
As a US Lacrosse Certified Coach, New York State Certified Coach, and educator, she is uniquely positioned to lead our curriculum development. Stephanie has been a member of the Snipers staff since our humble beginnings in 2012 and has led our Class of 2020 to immeasurable success. She has been an indispensable part of our coaching staff and administrative team since we became Snipers Elite Lacrosse in 2018. A five-year member of the Iona College lacrosse team, Stephanie was the 2012 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year. She is a double-graduate of Iona College (2011, M.Ed 2012), and she is certified in K-12 special education, math, and English. She currently works in the Plainview School District and is well suited to this position as an educator.
Abi Jackson - Director of Recruiting
Abi will be guiding our high school aged players through the college recruiting process, should they choose to pursue playing at the next level. Abi will drive all conversations between the Snipers Elite coaches and college coaching staff, facilitate educational opportunities regarding the college recruiting process, and ensure compliance with all NCAA rules and guidelines for contacts and evaluations of student-athletes. Additionally, she will liaise with ConnectLax, our recruiting profile platform, to ensure that all student-athlete profiles and game film are up to date.
Through her nearly 20 years of collegiate coaching experience and IWLCA committee involvement (Mentor, Rules, Tournament Working Group, and Racial Equity Task Force) Abi has developed a reputation for being honest and reliable and is highly respected among the collegiate lacrosse community. She possesses excellent communication skills as well as a strong familiarity with academic requirements and admissions procedures. Additionally, Abi was a three-sport varsity student-athlete at Williams College (soccer, basketball, and lacrosse) and earned her Masters at Trinity College. She has unparalleled personal and professional experience with intercollegiate athletics and is ideally situated to help guide our Snipers through the recruiting process.
Rachel Zurheide - Director of Marketing and Communications
Rachel will spearhead all of our external marketing and communication campaigns. Rachel consistently puts our student-athletes in front of a wide audience through social media, capitalizing on their talent, and helping them stand out in the recruiting process. Her work on social platforms and direct marketing ensures that our student-athletes stand out amongst their peers and that they have “eyes on them” through the recruiting process, while also growing the Snipers’ program.
Bringing years of experience with past marketing and communications roles, Rachel is passionate about setting our student-athletes up for success. With collegiate playing experience as well as a wealth of coaching experience, Rachel was previously a coach with the Class of 2021 and Class of 2026 teams for multiple seasons until recently moving to Atlanta, GA. She is excited about the opportunity to continue to support Snipers Elite Lacrosse from afar.
Alexis Di Domenico - Co-Director of Camps & Clinics
Alexis will lead the charge on our non-Elite team camp and clinic offerings, catering towards the younger age groups (K-8th grade). Alexis will be responsible for coordinating with Stephanie Sumcizk on curriculum, staffing events, and implementing the Snipers Elite development model.
Alexis is another life-long educator who has extensive playing and varied coaching experience. She spent time in Scotland, coaching various levels and playing for the Scottish National Team after finishing her Division 1 lacrosse career at UAlbany . Since her return from the United Kingdom, Alexis has taught and coached in a variety of school settings, with differing age and ability levels. Additionally, Alexis just completed her second Masters degree (Physical Education) from the Teachers College, Columbia University. Her experience makes her an ideal choice for running our camps and clinics for developing players. Alexis has been part of Snipers since 2014 as the Class of 2021 head coach, which has seen incredible growth and development over the years.
This group of women will work alongside our high-level coaching staff to help our players achieve their greatest potential. We are excited about the growth of Snipers Elite Lacrosse and all that the future holds.
